Greenery that looks real: the terrace of Hotel Le Palme

Planters and balcony boxes replaced with top-quality UV resistant artificial plants. Absolute realism, constant beauty, zero maintenance.

BM Luxury Group3 min read

On the panoramic terrace of Hotel Le Palme we completely replaced the plants in the planters and balcony boxes with top-quality UV resistant artificial plants. They are so realistic that guests lean in to touch them: no maintenance, no watering and, a detail that makes all the difference on a terrace, no gnats and no pollen near the tables.

“The best compliment comes from guests who reach out to touch a leaf — and are surprised.”

Realism that goes beyond imitation

There is a clear difference between an artificial plant and a high-end artificial plant. The first is recognisable at a glance: flat colour, identical leaves, an unnatural shine. The second can only be recognised by touching it — and often not even then.

The plants on the terrace have raised veins, shades that vary from one specimen to the next and slightly lighter tips, just like young leaves in nature. The ivy trails with the irregularity of a plant that has really grown, not with the symmetry of an industrial product.

The same beauty, every single day

A hotel terrace is a stage: breakfast, lounge, aperitifs, dinners and private events. On such an exposed terrace, natural plants follow a cycle that has nothing to do with the hotel’s: they bloom, tire and need replacing. In August, at peak occupancy, they are often at their worst.

With UV resistant artificial greenery that cycle disappears. The terrace at the end of September is identical to the one in mid-May: same density, same colour, same white blooms standing out against the light wooden decking.

No gnats, no insects

It is the least talked-about advantage, yet in a hotel it matters every evening. Potted natural plants bring damp soil, standing water in saucers and sugary blooms: ideal conditions for gnats and mosquitoes. Remove the soil and the water and you remove the cause.

  • No gnats around glasses, plates and table lamps.
  • No standing water, so no mosquito breeding in the saucers.
  • Zero pollen: a more pleasant environment for guests with allergies.
  • No insecticide treatments to schedule near the dining area.

Maintenance: practically none

No irrigation system, pruning, feeding or repotting, and no dripping onto the floors below. Care comes down to a periodic dusting and, a couple of times a year, a light rinse (all the steps are in our artificial plant care guide). For the management, a recurring cost becomes a one-off investment.

UV resistant: the technical choice behind the project

An indoor product exposed to full sun turns yellow within a few weeks. That is why we used only UV resistant artificial plants, made with materials treated against ultraviolet rays: they keep their colour and brilliance over time, withstand rain and are not afraid of wind.

Each plant was chosen according to the exposure of its position, the height of the container and the viewpoint of a seated guest. It is the kind of work you do not see — and that is exactly why it works.

Frequently asked questions

Do outdoor artificial plants withstand the sun?

Yes, if they are UV resistant: the materials are treated against ultraviolet rays and keep their colour and brilliance over time, even with rain and wind. An indoor plant exposed to the sun, on the other hand, turns yellow within a few weeks.

What maintenance do artificial plants on a terrace need?

A periodic dusting and, a couple of times a year, a light rinse. No watering, pruning, feeding or repotting.

Do artificial plants attract insects?

No. Without damp soil, standing water and nectar there are no conditions for gnats and mosquitoes, and there is no pollen.
